Our team is seeking a talented Deployment Automation Engineer in Austin, TX.

Our Members include 22 leading university in the country.  And our aim is to improve the ways in which higher education serves learners, advances quality educational materials, promotes teaching and learning innovation and practices, and enables the best learning analytics.

The Deployment Automation Engineer is responsible for implementing build, test, and deployment automation for Unizin applications and services. The Deployment Automation Engineer will ensure that the pipeline from development to test to production functions smoothly and correctly.

What You’ll Do

  • Design and build continuous integration pipelines in Jenkins
  • Write Ansible playbooks to provision and configure software on EC2 instances
  • Work with Unizin product management to quantitatively analyze application and infrastructure performance and error monitoring
  • Support and improve development and production deployment automation using technologies such as Vagrant, CloudFormation, cloud-init, and Docker
  • Learn new languages, frameworks, and tools quickly and thoroughly
  • Work cross-functionally with Unizin application developers, QA engineers, and product management to ensure system functionality and stability
  • Participate in a production support rotation with other engineers

What You’ll Need

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent
  • 2+ of experience in a technical role
  • Professional experience with Linux shell scripting
  • Python programming skills
  • Understanding of source control, tagging, release management
  • A pragmatic approach to automation and systems management
  • Experience with CloudFormation and Ansible, or the ability to learn them quickly

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience with deployment automation in Jenkins
  • Experience with the Groovy programming language
  • Knowledge of SQL and PostgreSQL database administration
  • Knowledge of Hive, Spark SQL, Presto, or other distributed query systems
  • Experience with Java, Clojure, or server-side JavaScript
